The village of Tincture lies in the valley below the castle.

The houses are sturdy, built of stone taken from the nearby cliffs. In the center stands a blacksmith shop and the tavern with its timbered second story.

The church is at the edge of town and the cloister opens upon a shady grove of old oaks.

Life in Tincture is generally pleasant, but when the moon is high, the shadow of the bat atop the keep of Castle Bloodbath lies heavy across the village, filling the residents with dark dreams.
