Welcome to the 2024 InterChron/CrossPlane Fencing Championship, brought to you by Hot Dog on Roller Skates, America’s Fastest (haha! get it?!) Hot Dog.

I am your host Emil Schnauzertrophy! With me is our lead camerawoman Barbara Brickleburger and the referee for the event, Antoine Bidness. We are broadcasting from the beautiful Salle du Brique. This promises to be an exciting week! We are going to watch three events – the final elimination round for the CrossPlane League, – the final elimination round for the InterChron League, and then the championship, which will pit the winners of the CrossPlane finals against the best teams of the InterChron League! I hope you’ll stay with us through all the action!
Today marks the beginning of our first event – the final elimination round for the CrossPlane League. The CPL has fielded an astonishing six teams for this event, so we’re bound to see lots of exciting fencing. The teams are almost ready to come out for introductions; while we’re waiting, let’s take a quick tour of the venue and meet our referee!

Our first stop is at the trophy station! Check out those beautiful gold and silver trophies for our winners! As you can see, the trophies are under heavy police guard – wouldn’t want them walking away, would we? Say hi to Officer Barbara Gordon!

Behind the trophy station is our wonderful audience! They all seem thrilled to be here today to witness fencing at its finest!

Next is the scoring apparatus! Our referee Antoine Bidness has explained to me that every time a fencer scores a touch with their weapon, the machine will light up to indicate the contact. However, only the referee can award a point! Even if a fencer scores a touch, if they don’t have the right of way, they don’t get a point.
I’m getting word that the first two teams are ready to come out! Let’s start meeting our contestants!
