Anyone remember the Micro Machines Travel City sets? Each set was a small city vignette – a Fish & Chips restaurant, a construction site, a hospital, etc.
The base of the vignette folded into a box where you could store all the parts of the vignette, including your toy cars.
The vignettes locked together to form larger sections of a city. Buy enough of the sets, and you could drive your cars from vignette to vignette.
