A large spider web blocks the corridor ahead, and in the center is a Giant Spider! Smilax draws his sais – just in time, for a second Giant Spider rushes out at him, baring fangs glistening with venom! Fortunately, Ingrid is right behind him, polearm in hand!
Smilax shows no fear of the Giant Spiders and rushes in, sais stabbing and slashing! The first two Giant Spiders fall dead, and Smilax severs their web from the wall. A third Giant Spider waits on the wall behind the web; it becomes easy prey for the long reach of Ingrid’s polearm.
Ingrid throws the dead Giant Spiders and their web into the slowly dissolving puddle of Gelatinous Cube.
Meanwhile, Smilax has discovered treasure! The web of the Giant Spiders concealed a dead end in the corridor, as well as a shining ruby, a glistening golden sword, and a mysterious green potion.
The golden sword is perfectly balanced for Ingrid to wield and exudes an aura that is unmistakably magical. What properties it and the magical potion possess, only time and experiment will tell.
Taddeo and Misako take their turns pole-vaulting over the remains of the Gelatinous Cube, and the party is reunited!
