Among the gold coins in the heap in the corner, Misako finds an emerald and a gold goblet; Taddeo pulls out a gold nugget and a diamond, Ingrid admires a gold chain, and Smilax claims a gold key.

“I wonder if it might fit that treasure chest I couldn’t open in the wizard’s library?” he muses.

“Forget it!” his friends say together. “We’re never going back there!”

“Let’s go home,” says Ingrid. “This place stinks of octopus and hellfire.”
