The heroes draw near to the alcove containing the bird’s head.

“Maybe it’s oracular,” Misako whispers.

Ingrid peeks around the corner to the right and sees a larger room, in the center of which stands a well! This is the place they have been seeking, the source of the poison that afflicted Ferdy Farebrother’s water!

Misako approaches the bird’s head, wand at the ready. The eyes track her movement; somehow the thing is still alive!

Behind her the shimmering sheet of light obscures the entrance to an adjoining chamber.

Ingrid steps closer to examine the well.

It is adorned with the symbol of a silver crab – this combined with the lion’s head at the entrance and the bird’s head in the alcove makes her think of the four elements – only one left to be represented! The well, she notes, is cracked and leaking. The water drains into the corner of the room and the tiles are thick with moss from the added moisture.
